Squirrel Appreciation Day was founded in 2001 by North Carolina wildlife rehabilitator Christy McKeown. Every year it is held on January 21. Squirrels get a lot of attention from humans, but not always much appreciation.

Pets of all shapes and sizes can succumb to a head trauma injury and is most commonly caused by an accidental fall, dog fight or being hit by a car. Most warrant immediate medical attention and signs of head trauma include disorientation, bleeding from ears, nose or mouth and seizures.
