Atlantic Street Veterinary Hospital Pet Emergency Center

Atlantic Street Veterinary Hospital Pet Emergency Center, operates as a secondary care facility designed to support the regional veterinary hospitals.  We primarily serve Placer, Sutter and Sacramento Counties but receive patients from throughout Northern and Central California.  As a secondary care facility, we are fully equipped to manage virtually all medical conditions related to small animals (dogs and cats), pocket pets (rabbits and rodents) birds and exotic pets.

• Imaging – Atlantic Street Veterinary Hospital Pet Emergency Center works directly with Veterinary Medical Imaging (Drs Harngel, Herrgesell, Long and Dettweiler) to provide seven day a week radiology review services, by Board Certified Specialists (Diplomates of American College of Veterinary Radiologist).  All cases receive less then 24 hour turn around study review with written report.  Additionally, we contract services for ultrasound imaging performed on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings.  Ultrasound services are also available on referral basis – please contact our office for additional information on this service.
• Surgery – Our doctors have extensive experience in most surgical procedures common in emergency practices (exploratory abdominal surgery, wound repair and fracture stabilization).  To agument our services, we are partnered with several of the regions Board Certified Surgeons - (Diplomates of American College of Veterinary Surgeons).  The surgeons are available to provide surgical services for advance surgical procedures both in-patient as well for referral practices.  Services by specialist are on limited and appointment basis, here at Atlantic Street Veterinary Hospital, so please contact our office to determine availability.
• Neurology – Services are provided through our join tenant arrangement with Dr Gregg Kortz, Diplomate ACVIM and his independent practice California Veterinary Neurology & Neurosurgery Specialists (CVNNS).  His training is in neurology and neurosurgery.  Dr Kortz provides appointment services on referral only basis.  In support of the Pet Emergency Center, he works closely with our staff doctors as a valuable consultant.  Please contact his office directly at (916)797.6387 for further information.

• Digital Radiology – Using the Eklin Medical System, direct-digital flat panel.  This system allows for near immediate display (images viewed within 4 seconds), which results in rapid viewing, faster time to treatment, improve image quality as well as ability to electronically share information (telemedicine)
• Electronic Medical Records - We utlize electronically capture medical records system +VIA which allows of professional, timely and completely intergrated communication for both clients and our referring doctors.
